THE BLUE MOUNTAINS - FOR THE QUEENS BIRTHDAY.

Yep it's the long weekend because we get the Queen's Birthday off here.

So we headed for the cold and wet in the Blue Mountain.

We found the Victoria & Albert Hotel. - quite fitting for the Queen's Birthday.

A quality establishment.

Claire said as we got to our room, "we should
have got a good impression of the place when
we noticed they offer a shared bathroom as
an option" - our room wasn't great.
It was clean - it was just a little basic -
well not even a wardrobe - just a rail.
For $150 a night? Really.
Well we had a good time.
The next morning down to breakfast to meet the locals
-Painted on the walls.
A nice fry up. Needed on such a cold day.

And then off to Jenolan Caves -
"Magic Happens here" - apparently.
It is actually quite spectacular.
All these Crystal Stalactites
A happy wife.
More and more.
An underground river.

More and more and more.
This photo doesn't do it justice.
Theses are like fins of rock.
Amazing.
Really was.
This one had a red tint to it - though it doesn't
look like that from the photo.
And again.
you can see where the Stalactites are meeting the Stalagmites.
And here's one that met.
It's like an underground city.
An awesome cave.
Really was. When we came out it was pitch dark,
and we didn't see sunlight until we got back to Sydney.

That night we went to the local pub, had a few
drinks and enjoyed the open fire. It was well needed.

Next morning it was the coldest I've been in Australia. - "Big Issue?"
I think that's Ironic.
Down to the three sisters. They're there. Honest.
I think.
We went for a little stroll.
And found more.
Still no sign of anything.
Fancy a walk? Me neither. So we went
to a Spa and Claire had a massage.
Fit for a King and Queen.
